Yin Yoga with Cat & Live Tanpura Ragas with Leaf Klevjer
There is something profoundly different about being surrounded by live music.
Not performed for you.
Not played through a speaker.
An offering to take you on a journey within.
This September, our monthly Sound of Yin takes on a beautiful new expression as Cat guides a slow, grounding Yin Yoga practice accompanied by the live drone of the tanpura and the meditative tradition of Indian ragas, shared by musician Leaf Klevjer.
Leaf's connection to this music began in childhood while living in South India and has continued over many years of dedicated study with respected teachers within the Dhrupad tradition. Her practice is one of deep listening, devotion and respect for one of the world's oldest living musical traditions.
Like yoga, ragas aren't simply something we hear—they are something we experience.
A raga is a melodic framework that creates a particular mood or atmosphere. Traditionally performed at different times of day and seasons, ragas invite us into presence, helping quiet the constant activity of the mind and reconnect us with ourselves.
Combined with Yin Yoga, this becomes an invitation to soften on every level.
As the body settles into supported postures, the steady resonance of the tanpura becomes an anchor for the breath and attention. The mind begins to slow. The nervous system shifts from doing into being.
You don't need to understand Indian classical music to feel its effect.
You simply need to allow and receive.
